The
Burgaw Area Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of
businesses and professionals who share a common goal of improving the
local business climate. The goal is achieved through business advocacy,
business assistance and business and community promotion. The area's
economic well being is related directly to the caliber of work that is
done by the Burgaw Chamber.
There are two primary functions of a Chamber of Commerce:
(1) It acts as a spokesman for the business and professional community
and translates into action the group thinking of its members and (2) It
renders specific services of a type that can be most effectively
rendered by a community organization both to its members and to the
community as a whole.
- To promote a better understanding of the nation's private enterprise system.
-
To coordinate the efforts of commerce, industry and the professions in
maintaining and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate in
the Burgaw area.
- To sponsor programs of work and
stimulate activities that will provide full development and employment
of our human and economic resources.
- To provide
creative business leadership and effective coordination of all
interested parties in solving community problems and initiating
constructive community involvement.
- To promote the advantages and assets of our community within the area, within the state, and throughout the world.

of directors. The board of directors meets monthly on the second
Thursday.
Executive Committee
– The Executive Committee consists of the Executive Director,
President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. It exercises the

Committees
- A Committee system is the most effective means of harnessing energies
and abilities of volunteer workers. Committees are responsible to the
board of directors and report to their individual committee chair.
